Madhya Pradesh: Preparations are on to crack down on hospitals committing irregularities in the Ayushman scheme. The state’s Ayushman office is going to make arrangements for its online monitoring. Special software is being developed for this. In this, after the admission of patients, online information will be taken from the hospital in the prescribed format.
- Online monitoring: Irregularities in the scheme will be caught with the help of software
- Software likely to be ready in 06 months, work to begin
These will be analyzed with the software. If any fact other than the rules is caught, a notice will be issued to the concerned hospital. After this, action will be taken as per the rules. Madhya Pradesh will be the first state to do this innovation. This software is likely to be ready in 6 months. It is worth noting that at present, complaints of various types of irregularities are being received in the Ayushman scheme from making cards to the treatment of patients. These are investigated but it takes a lot of time. Therefore, the state office of Ayushman has prepared a plan to catch online irregularities. Work on this has already started.
This is how irregularities will be caught
Dr. Yogesh Bharsat, CEO of Ayushman Bharat Yojana MP, said that we are working towards catching online irregularities through software. The software will automatically catch the irregularities from the information, photos, videos etc. taken from the hospitals. This will help in reducing the irregularities that are happening now.
There are four types of punishments against private hospitals found to be doing irregularities. This includes suspension of their affiliation, penalty, FIR and termination of affiliation with the scheme. According to officials, private hospitals will have to enter the complete details of the admitted patient in the software along with their photos and videos by tagging the location.
Patients and their families will also be talked to through the call center. It will be seen whether the disease mentioned in the case sheet required hospitalization or the patient could have been cured with medicines at home. The software will alert if the patient is kept admitted for more days than the time fixed in the package without permission. Even if the patient is admitted in ICU without completing the prescribed protocol, an alert will be generated.
Money is being extorted
Last year, when some hospitals in Indore were investigated, it was found that the number of patients shown as registered on the portal for admission was not the same number of patients. That is, money for Ayushman was being taken by showing fake patient admissions.
■ Patients are shown admitted for more days than the number of days fixed in the package.
■ There are many complaints about making Ayushman cards with fake documents.
■ The money for the package is quickly exhausted by getting unnecessary expensive tests done for the patients.
■ Many times, if there is less amount left in the package, the patient is not admitted.
■ Treatment is not done according to the package but with expensive procedures.
■ Patients are kept in ICU and given oxygen even when there is no need.
