Rewa. Former superintending engineer of Rewa Municipal Corporation Harbhajan Singh, who was the complainant in the famous Honey Trap case in the state, died of a heart attack on Friday. Harbhajan’s ancestral house is located at Gurh intersection of the city and he was living in Singrauli Tower near the stadium. On Friday morning, he had breakfast and was reading a book after that.

At 12 noon, he informed the employee that he was feeling nervous. At that time, he took initial treatment but when his condition worsened, the employee and security guard took him to the Super Specialty Hospital.
He was breathing till he reached the hospital but when he reached the ward, the doctors declared him dead. His family includes wife, son and daughter, who live in Indore and left for Rewa after getting information about the incident. Harbhajan’s body has been kept in Amhiya Gurudwara from where it will be taken to his ancestral home on Saturday and after that the last rites will be performed at 4 pm.
This case was in discussion across the state
Harbhajan was also an engineer in Indore Municipal Corporation. Singh complained to the then SSP of Indore Ruchivardhan Mishra on 17 September 2017. On this, a case was registered in Palasia police station under sections of fraud and intimidation and five women including the NGO operator girl from Bhopal and a driver were arrested. Singh got acquainted with the women while he was an engineer in the corporation. She used to call herself a contractor and the meetings were held only to talk about getting contracts. Singh had alleged that the women were demanding 3 crore rupees from him by luring him with the alleged video. The police had arrested him by calling him on the pretext of giving 50 lakhs. The case had become high profile due to the claim of the women involved in the case being in contact with many senior officers and politicians. Later, the girl had also filed a complaint against Harbhajan by making serious allegations, after which he was attached to Rewa Nagar Nigam. The trial of the case registered in Palasia police station is still going on in the court. Looking at the seriousness of the case, the government had also formed an SIT under the leadership of an ADG level officer.
