- District administration’s initiative to stop fraud: Purchase of paddy will start from December 2 at the support price
As per the instructions of the government, purchase of paddy from farmers is to start from December 2 at the support price. The administration has made extensive preparations to deal with the problem of UP’s paddy being consumed in this process.
Every year, traders try to secretly bring paddy from UP at a cheaper rate and sell it in MP. To stop this, the administration has set up special checking points on seven main routes connected to UP.
These include Chakghat-Prayagraj Hardway Tyonthar-Shankargarh Pathat road, Naribari to Mangi Kakraha road, Chiraon-Sonauri road, Dehi-Bashat road and Mangi-Samrol road. Duty has been assigned in these 18-8 hour shifts.
There is a difference in the price of UP and MP: Paddy is not purchased at the support price in UP. Due to this, farmers get only Rs 2,000 per quintal through traders. Whereas, the support price in MP is Rs 2,300 per quintal. To take advantage of this difference, middlemen try to sell UP’s paddy in MP.
In the past years, a large quantity of paddy brought from UP was confiscated by the administration. This time also the administration has made a strong arrangement to foil the plans of the traders.
